Diagnostics has an important role in personalized medicine. Biomarkers and genetic tests, for example, provide essential tools for selecting appropriate patients for treatment with certain drugs. The purpose of personalized medicine is ‘ to provide the right treatment to the right patient, at the right dose, at the right time’.
Drug development and diagnostics is a common research profiling area of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University funded by the Academy of Finland.
